13 months in Vietnam, was so glad to get back home. Vietnam is a beautiful country with beautiful people, I know we should never have been in Vietnam. "The Vietnam War resulted in an estimated 1.35 million to 3.8 million total deaths, including combatants and civilians across So East Asia" 58,220 U.S. military personnel died in Vietnam. I since discovered, as an Agent Orange victim, 300,000 Vietnam veterans have died, from Agent Orange. War serves one purpose!

I was there for 19 months, 67-69, 3rd BN, 1st Marines, and 7th Marines. Radioman. Came home late August 69, just in time for Woodstock. Long story.

A difficult figure to estimate - does it include the uncountable 1000s who died due to US bombing & the release of millions of cluster bomblets on Laos & other non-combatants but the US didn't give a fuck about their lives. I happened to be in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, when Obama visited for the ASEAN summit. He promised the Lao people $5 million to help Laos clean up the disgraceful mass of unexploded ordnance that the US inflicted in that benighted country. £5 billion would be needed!

"This short anti-war pamphlet was written by a Major General in the Marines who was an American military hero, but became disillusioned with the profiteering, propaganda, and injustice of the military-industrial and intelligence-foreign policy establishments , and came to oppose American involvement in foreign wars designed to benefit financial and industrial interests." https://www.heritage-history.com/site/hclass/secret_societies/ebooks/pdf/butler_racket.pdf
